FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used in machine building, automobile and tractor building in production of castings from high-strength cast irons with spherical and vermicular shape of graphite. Method for spheroidizing modification of high-strength cast irons includes supply of two equal half-weights of ferrosilicon-magnesium alloy into corners between bottom and end vertical walls of drum ladle with vertical introduction of equal half-weights on each of end vertical walls, wherein the height of the semi-suspension from the bottom vertically on each end wall exceeds its width at the bottom.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to carry out modification in a drum ladle without additional equipment, as well as to reduce the risk of erosion, floatation and combustion on the surface of the melt surface of the melt of light ferrosilicon-magnesium alloy.
