FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to extraction of lithium hydroxide from wastes of lithium-ion batteries or parts thereof. Crude lithium hydroxide in amount of 1 molar part in the form of a solid substance which contains lithium fluoride is combined with a lower alcohol taken in amount of 5 to 15 molar parts. Solid and liquid phases are separated to obtain a transparent solution; water is added. Solid lithium hydroxide is recovered in form of anhydrate or monohydrate, or in form of a mixture of anhydrate and monohydrate, or in form of a mixture of monohydrate with water and/or lower alcohol, or in the form of a mixture of a monohydrate with a lower alcohol, or in the form of a mixture of an anhydrate and a monohydrate with a lower alcohol.
EFFECT: method enables effective purification of lithium hydroxide containing LiF and/or salts of amphoteric elements.
