FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry and electronics. Olivine-type lithium-iron phosphate consists of secondary particles having mean particle diameter (D50) of 5-100 mcm, formed via aggregation of primary particles having mean particle diameter (D50) of 50-550 nm. The lithium-iron phosphate has a composition of formula Li1+aFe1-xMx(PO4-b)Xb, wherein M is selected from Al, Mg, Ni, Co, Mn, Ti, Ga, Cu, V, Nb, Zr, Ce, In, Zn, Y and combination thereof, X is selected from F, S, N, wherein - 0.5 ≤ a ≤ +0.5, 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5 and 0 ≤ b ≤ 0.1. The secondary particles have porosity of 15-40%. The disclosed lithium-iron phosphate is used as a cathode active material.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain lithium-iron phosphate having high electroconductivity and strength, thereby increasing capacitance and energy density of electrodes and batteries.
