Aerosol generating device comprises a light source and the disclosed heating structure. Heating structure is configured to receive light from a light source. Version of the heating structure for generating an aerosol comprises a substrate with thermal conductivity from more than 0 to less than or equal to 45 W/mK. Metal prism forms at least one hole in the substrate and is configured to generate heat by means of SPR. To implement the method of producing a heating structure for generating an aerosol by means of SPR, a plurality of balls is deposited on a substrate and the size of the plurality of balls is reduced. Multiple metal particles are deposited on the substrate and/or multiple balls and multiple balls are removed.
