FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry of high-molecular compounds, specifically to a single-phase bimodal propylene/ethylene/1-butene random terpolymer, to articles, especially films, containing said composition, and a method of producing said composition. Single-phase bimodal composition (PP) of propylene/ethylene/1-butene random terpolymer, suitable for producing films, includes: from 40 to 90 wt.%, with respect to the total weight of the single-phase bimodal composition of propylene/ethylene/1-butene random terpolymer, first fraction (PP1) of the random terpolymer, having an ethylene (C2) content of 0.3 to 3.0 mol.%, and 1-butene (C4) content of 1.0 to 5.0 mol.%, of 10 to 60 wt.%, with respect to the total weight of the single-phase bimodal composition of propylene/ethylene/1-butene random terpolymer, a second fraction (PP2) of the random terpolymer having an ethylene (C2) content of 3.0 to 7.0 mol.%, and 1-butene (C4) content of 2.0 to 6.0 mol.%. First fraction (PP1) of the random terpolymer and the second fraction (PP2) of the random terpolymer together account for at least 95 wt.% of the total weight of the single-phase bimodal composition (PP) of the propylene/ethylene/1-butene random terpolymer. Single-phase bimodal composition (PP) of the random propylene/ethylene/1-butene terpolymer has each of the following properties: i) content of ethylene (C2) from 1.0 to 4.0 mol.%; ii) content of 1-butene (C4) from 1.5 to 4.5 mol.%; iii) melt flow rate (MFR2), determined according to ISO 1133 at 230 °C at load of 2.16 kg, from 3.0 to 10 g/10 min; and iv) content of 2,1-regiodefects from 0.1 to 1.5 mol.%.

EFFECT: favourable combination of low content of hexane-extracted substances, high transparency, good processability and good welding properties is achieved by using bimodal C3/C2/C4 terpolymers with a certain content of 2,1-regiodefects.
