SUBSTANCE: technical solution relates to decorative and applied art, namely to a method for decorating the surface of a ceramic article, which includes the following steps: coating the ceramic surface of the article with a coloured coating composition; firing the article; cooling the article; a stencil with a pattern cut out for further sandblasting is glued to the surface of the article; sandblasting the surface; removing the stencil; then the article is additionally coated with a layer of glaze and subjected to additional firing.
EFFECT: invention enables to protect the decor from surface damage of the glaze coating.
