FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: magnetic fluid bearing comprises inner and outer rings with raceways, which form a working cavity, in which there is a separator with rolling balls installed in it and a magnetic fluid is introduced as a lubricant with the possibility of exposure to the electromagnetic field of the power supply unit with adjustment of current and voltage. Solenoids are installed in the separator and are made in the form of a sleeve with a winding, inside which there is a spring-loaded T-shaped brake rod with a friction pad on its T-shaped end, with possibility of contact of the latter with raceway of external ring of bearing under action of electromagnetic field and subsequent return of T-shaped brake rod to initial position in absence of electromagnetic field.
EFFECT: possibility of adjusting the effect of the magnetic field on the magnetic fluid and creating an additional braking force.
