FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: method involves measurement of parameters of bearing components in operation. To this end external local permanent magnetic field whose lines of force act unidirectionally with thrust taken by bearing is superposed on bearing area under check. Eddy currents are built up in bearing components under check by rotating bearing in magnetic field, inductance voltage signals are continuously measured, measured signals are compared with those corresponding to normal state of bearing, and condition of bearing components under check, moments of flaw build-up and development with time, requirement for stopping bearing though it has no visible defects are judged from difference between compared signals.
