FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for joint calibration of a lidar and a camera. Method for joint calibration of lidar and camera consists in fixation of lidar and camera on one base, keeping the relative position of lidar and camera unchanged in accordance with non-repeating scanning characteristics of such lidar, homemade large-size checkerboard calibration plate is sequentially placed in different positions in the overlapping field of view of the lidar and the camera and the three-dimensional point cloud data are converted into a two-dimensional normalized halftone image in accordance with the point cloud intensity, then determining the angles on the normalized halftone image and the camera image to obtain corresponding pairs of angular points, then, based on the inverse search of corner points, the exact coordinates of the corner points of the three-dimensional point cloud are determined and results of joint calibration are obtained based on the corresponding coordinates of the corner points of the image from the camera.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of calibration.
