FIELD: measuring.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fibre-optic measuring instruments and can be used for recording and monitoring distributed optical losses in a fibre-optic channel of a communication line. A coherent optical reflectometer comprises: optical radiation source, acousto-optical modulator, input fibre-optic splitter, optical amplifier, optical circulator, receiving fibre-optic splitter, balanced photodetector, analogue-to-digital converter and a signal processing circuit, including an envelope detector and a memory for averaging single reflectograms, two polarization dividers, second receiving fibre-optic splitter, optically connected to the second balanced photodetector, electrically connected to the second analogue-to-digital converter, electrically connected to the second envelope detector. Both envelope detectors are electrically connected to memory. First output ports of first and second polarization dividers are optically connected to input ports of first receiving fibre-optic splitter, and the second output ports of the first and second polarization dividers are optically connected to the input ports of the second receiving fibre-optic splitter.

EFFECT: invention reduces noise level of reflectograms of a coherent optical reflectometer.
