FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method of evaluating vibrational or acoustic signals along extended objects based on a fiber-optic coherent reflectometer with amplitude, phase and polarization modulation of the probing radiation. In this case, the information component of the signal evaluation is determined in the form of the instantaneous value of the phase shift between the centers of rayleigh scattering in an optical fiber. The obtained values are divided into two parallel processing streams, where one processes odd elements of the input sequence, and the other - even ones. After combining by means of a quadrature phase detector, the information component is extracted.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of reproduction of the instantaneous phase-shift values between the centers of Rayleigh scattering in an optical fiber and improve the ability to assess the rapidly changing parameters of vibrational and acoustic signals, improve the reliability of detecting weak influences and accompanying them when they move along the sensor.
