FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of determining discharge of bottom sediments from characteristics of ridges in river beds. Total discharge of bottom sediments on the river section is determined by integrating elementary flows on longitudinal profiles along the width of the river section. Elementary flow rate of bottom sediments on the longitudinal profile is determined from the parameter of the average thickness of the movable material layer, which is the ratio of the area of the movable material to the length of the movable material layer, which is the length of the line drawn along the basements of the ridges. Upper boundary of the area of the movable material is the line of the surface of the ridges, and the lower boundary is the line of the basement of the ridges identified after exclusion of small projections. Elimination of small protrusions is carried out using a filtration coefficient determined from a histogram of distribution of protrusions by ranges of their heights.
EFFECT: improving measurement accuracy of bottom sediment flow rate by parameters of channel relief and improving measurement accuracy of bottom sediment flow rate at channel relief consisting of scarce ridges.
