FIELD: wireless communication equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication engineering, namely to transmission or reception of system messages applicable to user equipment with reduced capabilities (REDuced CAPability User Equipment, redcap-UE). To this end, an indication message is received, which is configured to indicate characteristics of control performed by redcap-U, and a system message to be monitored is determined in accordance with the indication message. Determining the system message to be monitored in accordance with the indication message includes determining that the first system message should be monitored and the second system message should not be monitored, if the indication message is in a first state; determining that a second system message should be monitored if the indication message is in a second state. First system message corresponds to redcap-UE or the second system message corresponds to a system message specified in the existing system.

EFFECT: enabling UE with reduced capabilities to determine a system message to be monitored in accordance with a received indication message, thereby improving efficiency of monitoring performed by such UE.
