FIELD: data processing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and a method for processing audio data and, in particular, processing for generating diffuse reverberation signals for augmented/mixed/virtual reality applications. Disclosed audio device comprises receiver (501), receiving audio signals representing sound sources, and metadata containing the ratio of the scattered reverberation signal to the common signal, indicating the level of the scattered reverberation sound relative to the total radiated sound in the environment. Metadata for each audio signal contain a signal strength indicator and directivity data indicating the directivity of sound emission from a sound source represented by the audio signal. Circuit (505, 507) determines a total radiated energy indicator based on the signal level indicator and directional data and a downmix coefficient based on the total radiated energy and the ratio of the scattered reverberation signal to the common signal. Downmixer (509) generates a downmixed signal by combining signal components of each audio signal generated by applying a downmix factor for each audio signal to the audio signal The reverb (407) generates a diffuse reverberation signal for the environment from a component of the down-mixed signal.
EFFECT: creation of a method for generating diffused reverberation signals, which enables to improve operation, increase flexibility, reduce complexity, facilitate implementation, improve the perception of audio, improve audio quality, reduce computational load, improve stability for varying positions, improve performance of virtual/mixed/augmented reality applications, improve perceived properties of scattered reverberation.
