FIELD: performing operations.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical engineering, namely to methods for repairing parts that have suffered fatigue damage in the form of cracks during operation and are primarily used in mechanical engineering, aircraft manufacturing, and shipbuilding. To inhibit cracks in sheet metal structures, a barrier is created on the path of crack growth. Barrier is created at the crack tip by drilling unloading holes, the centres of which lie on one straight line perpendicular to the crack. Crack is drilled with six holes. Centre of the middle hole coincides with the top of the crack. Distances from it to centres of two adjacent holes are equal to hole diameter D, which is determined from formula
where lT is distance between crack tips, K is stress concentration factor.
EFFECT: improving reliability of elements of machine-building structures, preventing the possibility of their complete destruction, simplifying the repair technology.
