FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to purification of cyanide electrolytes of silver plating, including those prepared on the basis of potassium cyanide, from harmful impurities of carbonates. Method includes precipitation of excess amount of carbonate using calcium nitrate and separation of regenerated electrolyte. After determining the excess concentration of carbonates in the silver plating bath, the electrolyte is drained into a container and thermostated, after which it is poured into a regeneration container and an aqueous solution of calcium nitrate is added. Mixture is stirred until uniformity of the disperse phase is created and held until separation into an upper liquid phase and a carbonate precipitate; the liquid phase is poured into a silver plating bath with simultaneous filtration. Sediment of carbonates is washed with distilled water, settled, the solution is checked against washing of sediment for content of silver and in case of its presence is sent to a trapping bath, and in the absence of silver, the solution from the washing of the precipitate is checked for content of cyanides, while in the presence of cyanides, the precipitate is neutralized and disposed of.
EFFECT: enabling increase in the rate of regeneration, preservation of the silver plating electrolyte, complete washing of the deposit of carbonates from silver and cyanide compounds with subsequent return of these compounds to supplement the silver plating electrolyte and recycling the safe deposit of carbonates.
