FIELD: mechanical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pipeline transport, in particular to systems for continuous monitoring of a pipeline compensator installed in a fluid transfer line. Method of estimating the state of compensator (21) inserted into section (1) of a hydrocarbon transportation line involves obtaining, by means of deformation detection means (102), data relating to mechanical stresses occurring on said compensator (21). Digital signals generated by the latter with respect to said data are sent to computerized central unit (3). Gradually accumulated digital data are processed to obtain an updated report on the integrity of said line compensator (21), as well as instructions regarding the predicted remaining service life of said compensator (21) taking into account the reference parameters and/or values of threshold values stored in said programs and algorithms.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of evaluating the state of using a compensator.
