FIELD: analytical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method for quantitative determination of iron in technical solutions of glycols, which involves dry evaporation of a weighed initial sample, wetting dry residue with concentrated sulphuric acid and further heating until smoke emission stops, incineration at temperature 750±25 °C, followed by treatment of obtained precipitate with 2 n hydrochloric acid, evaporation to dryness, dissolving remaining precipitate in 1 n nitric acid, transferring the solution to a measuring flask and analysis by atomic absorption spectroscopy to determine the iron content.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the accuracy of determining iron in technical solutions of glycols.
