FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: result is achieved by the following steps: selecting a fragment of a heat network (HN) on which a leak occurred, containing nodes with sensors, on whose readings the beginning of emergency operation is based, and connecting their branches, and changing the colour of the graph branches and nodes in the emergency state; conversion of the selected fragment into a separate detailed heating network model (DHNM) and using data from the database of the heating network on the selected fragment; setting in DHNM boundary conditions corresponding to normally operating system; performing a series of numerical calculations using a computer program for numerical simulation of flow distribution in process pipeline systems, where a fictitious branch with a flow rate equal to the expected leakage value is successively substituted into each DHNM node; analysis of the results of a series of calculations for compliance with the current readings of sensors that fix a pipeline break or water leakage, and selection of the most accurate version; locating a leak with accuracy of at least three meters.
EFFECT: high accuracy of locating a leak in a heat network.
