FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in internal combustion engines. Method of increasing efficiency of internal combustion engine (1) operating on Diesel cycle at partial loads consists in forced reduction of air mass flow rate and heating of air supplied to cylinder. Air is heated by installed heater in the form of non-mixing heat exchanger (2), with heating medium in the form of engine exhaust gases. Air mass flow rate is reduced by bypassing part of exhaust gases into exhaust system past turbine part (4) of turbocharger. Exhaust gases are bypassed to heater (2) by bypass device (6) installed along the exhaust gas path after the turbine.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of internal combustion engine during its operation at partial load modes.
