SUBSTANCE: invention relates to communication technologies. Method includes determining a forward link discontinuous reception (SL DRX) configuration mode in accordance with a received serving cell message and making decision on application of first SL DRX configuration mode by determining presence of SL DRX indicator, present in message of serving cell, in which the SL DRX indicator present in the serving cell message means that the serving cell supports the SL DRX configuration; wherein said method further includes at least one of the following: reporting received auxiliary information transmitted by peer-to-peer user equipment, wherein the user equipment is in a connected state and a first SL DRX configuration mode is applied, or a message on the received SL DRX configuration transmitted by the peer-to-peer user equipment, wherein the user equipment is in a connected state, the first SL DRX configuration mode is applied, and receives the received SL DRX configuration transmitted by the peer-to-peer user equipment.

EFFECT: providing direct communication between user equipment and other user equipment, as well as low power consumption of the device of the user equipment during direct communication and preventing wasting of resources.
