SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medical equipment, namely to a device for storing and monitoring blood culture bottles and a method of operating an incubator for blood culture bottles. Device comprises drum with outer perimeter and inner perimeter. Outer perimeter has diameter exceeding that of inner perimeter. Drum comprises seats. Sockets have a near end on an outer perimeter and a far end on an inner perimeter. Each seat is configured to accommodate a blood culture flask. Blood culture flask comprises a bottom part and a neck part. Haemoculture flask is configured to be contained in the socket so that the bottom part is at the far end of the socket or the neck part is at the far end of the socket. Perimeter of the drum is located around the axis of rotation of the drum, wherein the axis of rotation is determined by the vertical shaft. Seats are located in the drum as an array of seats. Array contains vertical and horizontal sockets. Device has sensors and detectors for analysing haemoculture bottles to determine whether the haemoculture bottles are positive or negative for growth of microorganisms. Drum has inner space within inner perimeter. Part of electronic devices of the drum is in communication with sensors and detectors for analysis of haemoculture bottles located within the inner perimeter of the drum. Method involves introduction, through a control interface, blood culture bottles into a given sector of a blood culture drum, wherein the haemoculture drum rotates around the vertical shaft and comprises a holder which is characterized by a round inner perimeter and a round outer perimeter. Method involves opening a door of a body for a blood culture drum. Method includes stopping the drum by reducing the power of the motor used to rotate the drum so that the specified sector is accessible by means of the open door of the housing. Method involves the operations of placing a blood culture bottle in an empty seat, removing the blood culture bottle from the seat or removing the blood culture bottle from one seat and placing another blood culture bottle in its place. Haemoculture flask is withdrawn on the basis of its status shown by the indicator.

EFFECT: increased compactness of arrangement of flasks in the drum.
