FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to real-time optimization of transmitting radio-frequency (RF) devices. To this end, an RF system, such as a cognitive radar, includes a software-defined radio system, an adaptive transmitting amplifier and a host computer. System performs optimization operations, which include selecting an initial impedance as a load impedance for the RF device and iteratively performing image filling operations until a convergence criterion is satisfied. Image padding operations may include measuring the performance of the RF device, storing the measured performance as a point on the image of the measured load matching circuit, performing extrapolation for load matching in order to extrapolate, from load impedance, predicted optimum impedance, and storing the predicted impedance as a load impedance for the next iteration of image filling operations.
EFFECT: reduced computational costs for real-time optimization of RF devices.
