FIELD: military equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to military equipment and can be used for protection of aircraft against self-guided missiles equipped with combined (radar and infrared) self-guided heads. In the method of protecting an aircraft from self-guided missiles, as a false target, metallized balls are used, connected to each other in series by means of cable sections, on the balls, the location in the space of which is closest to the location in the space of the air intake, engine nozzles and flame of another aircraft, installing pyrotechnic charges, wherein pyrotechnic charges are ignited after release of false target from aircraft.
EFFECT: high efficiency of protecting aircraft due to protection of the aircraft in both the radar and infrared wavelength ranges.
