FIELD: computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer engineering, namely to protection of information, in particular to colour images, and can be used for selection of containers for steganographic embedding of information. Method for evaluating a container for steganographic embedding of information consists in determining the total number of pixels of the image container in a given colour intensity range, determining the number of isolated pixels, determination of boundary selection pixels and further determination of the ratio of the total colour intensity of all permitted pixels to the sum of the colour intensity of all the pixels of the container image, wherein the number of permitted pixels is determined as the difference between the total number of pixels of the container image in a given colour intensity range without boundary selection pixels and isolated pixels.
EFFECT: higher protection against steganalysis.
