FIELD: particle spectrometers.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mass spectrometers and particularly to time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Time-of-flight mass analyser comprises a vacuum chamber, an ion source, an ion detector and an ion flight region, wherein the ion flight region comprises a system of series-arranged ion-optical elements, which are gaps of electrostatic sectors and drift gaps, forming chromatic and spatial focusing for spread of initial parameters of ions, as well as forming a closed flight path of ion beam in form of blades located relative to centre of said system. Trajectory of the flight of the ion beam forms a closed figure in form of an asymmetrical or symmetrical figure eight in the XY plane, and intermediate points of chromatic or spatial focusing are formed at points which lie on the trajectory inside a field-free drift interval.
EFFECT: reduced loss of ions and high sensitivity and resolution on M/z of the mass spectrometer.
