FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in control systems of multilevel frequency converters. In the conversion method, a master rectified sinusoidal signal is compared with a reference sawtooth signal. At each transition of the driving sinusoidal signal through zero, the sawtooth signal is reset to the initial value determined by the time shift of the beginning of the sawtooth reference signal, and is always in the range from zero to the amplitude of the sawtooth signal. Method makes it possible to use the moment of transition through zero of the setting signal as a synchronization point of clock generators of an autonomous voltage inverter (AVI), excluding fluctuations of the output voltage of the AVI. Besides, switching functions, which switch keys of power part of AVI in antiphase, make it possible to reduce constant component in output voltage of multilevel frequency converter, which appears due to difference in levels of supply voltages of AVI.

EFFECT: improving the quality of operation of a multi-level frequency converter by reducing output voltage fluctuations.
