FIELD: organic chemistry, organic sulfides. SUBSTANCE: products: bis-[(4-hydroxyphenyl)alkyl]-sulfides (HАS) of the general formula where R1-R2 tert.-butyl; R3 hydrogen; n 1, 3; or R1=R2 tert. -butyl; R3 methyl; n 2, or R1 tert.-butyl; R2-R3 - hydrogen; n 1-2; or R1 tert.-butyl; R2 hydrogen; R3 methyl; n 2. Synthesis of HAS is carried out by chlorination of corresponding (4-hydroxyphenyl)-alkanol (HPА) with compound (I) of the formula XCl2, where X PCl, POCl, PCl3 or SO in the medium of dimethylformamide (DMFA) at heating and treatment of synthesized chloride with anhydrous technical Na-sulfide in alcohol at boiling or with DMFA in water presence at concentration 10-15 wt.-% of total solvent quantity, at 70-90 C. If compound (I) PCl3 or POCl3 were used the process is carried out at the mole ratio HPA DMFA compound (1.8-2):2:1, at 90-100 C; if PCl5 is used the molar ratio (2.7-3):(2-3):1, at 90-100 C; if SOCl2 is used the molar ratio (0.8-1): 1:1, at 50-100 C. The yield of AHS is 74-84% as compared with 30-74% in the known method. Synthesized compounds can be used as stabilizing agents of polymeric materials.
