FIELD: gas-thermal spraying of various coatings, particular, coatings based on nickel and graphite which may be used as sealing for articles operating under conditions of high-temperature loads. SUBSTANCE: composite material contains, mas. %: nickel 60-80; graphite 15-30; sodium silicate 5-10. Composite material preparation includes preparation of mixture of graphite and water glass with density of 1250- 1350 kg/cu.m, then nickel is added and mixed up to plastic strength of 0.23-0.25 MPa, then, convectively treated in boiling layer up to strength of 3-4 MPa with simultaneous granulation. Obtained granulate is ground and fraction of 80-300 mcm is separated and used for spraying of coatings. EFFECT: higher coefficient of material utilization, adhesion and corrosion resistance of coatings due to presence in composite material of sodium silicate and definite sequence of operations in preparation of material which ensures uniform distribution of components in material. 2 cl, 1 tbl
