VEHICLE WAVE DRIVER Russian patent published in 1995 - IPC

FIELD: vehicles of high cross-country capacity. SUBSTANCE: wave driver has housing with gas-filled flexible envelope hermetically secured at its bottom. Supporting part 6 of envelope is connected by rods 10 to traction chain 7 whose ends are fast on housing. Installed under chain 7 are supporting sprockets 22 mounted on carriages 16 connected to endless driving chain 15. Sprocket 22 is rigidly coupled with gear engaging with rack 23 installed on guides of running wheels 18 of carriage 16. With driving chain moving, carriages 16 move together with driving chain 15, and gears 21, running along racks 23, rotate sprockets 22 which form, by means of rods 10, travelling wave of part 6 of flexible envelope.
