FIELD: geophysics. SUBSTANCE: three components of geomagnetic field are measured by means of three detectors, disposed in down-hole logging instrument. Vertical component of geomagnetic field is measured by means of detector, disposed in down-hole logging instrument vertically in gimbal suspension. Two other components are measured in the plane, being perpendicular to axis of the well, in the direction of mutually perpendicular axes of rotation of gimbal suspension of vertical detector. Measurements are performed by means of two detectors, mounted motionless in the case of down-hole logging instrument; the detectors are connected rigidly with the case. Then rocks, which surround the well, have to be magnetized, in turn in the direction of axes of rotation of gimbal suspension. Magnetization is carried out by means of two sources of magnetizing field. An increment in vertical component of geomagnetic field is measured. Horizontal components Hx and Hy of complete vector of geomagnetic field are determined according to results of measurements, disposed in the plane and in perpendicular to the plane of well slope correspondingly.
