FIELD: thermal reprocessing of coals. SUBSTANCE: furnace has chamber with sintering zone, calcination zone, isothermal holding zone and cooling zone, with all zones being positioned in above mentioned sequence through the whole height of furnace. Furnace is further provided with dividing walls, heating piers with horizontal heating channels extending along both sides of chamber, regenerators, heating gas and air supply channels, and combustion product discharge channels. Coking chamber is made rectangular and slit-shaped, with ratio of calcination zone width to isothermal holding and coke cooling zones width 1:1-1.2:1-1.5. Two pairs of horizontal heating channels are built in each dividing wall of chamber in isothermal holding zone. Each channel is connected through transfer window with adjacent horizontal heating channel of heating pier. Extinguishing gas supply channels and extinguishing gas discharge channel are built in dividing walls of chamber in dry cooling zone upper and lower parts. Extinguishing gas channels are provided with double-sided multiple staged system of connecting passages extending along the width and length of chamber. Space between these channels is 1-1.5 of chamber width in this zone. EFFECT: increased efficiency by uniform and intensified cooling of charge of coke, reduced temperature differential through lump depth and increased recovery of coke heat. 2 tbl, 6 dwg
