FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: method involves storing the initial luminance attenuation signal value (LASV); comparing current value of LASV with voltage threshold value generated for initial LASV; generating values of upper and lower limits of time for setting the current value of LASV to voltage threshold value to determine time interval for setting current of LASV to voltage threshold value; carrying out separation, when LASV reaches voltage threshold value. To facilitate quick action, separation is conducted on the base of time interval proportional to mineral luminance attenuation time constant. EFFECT: increased efficiency of separation process and enhanced reliability in operation. 2 cl, 2 dwg
