FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: piston engine has housing 1, cylinder 2 with cuts 3, two pistons 4 moving toward each other and arranged in cylinder 2, piston rings 5 coupled with sides of piston 4, and two pairs of axially alined crank shafts 6 and 7 with gears 8. One pair of the crankshafts is perpendicular to the other pair. Gears 8 of one of the pairs engage gears 8 of the other pair. Each piston 4 is coupled only with one pair of the crankshafts through piston pins 5 and connecting rods 9. When one of pistons 4 is affected by working fluid, it transmits the torque to one pair of the axially alined crankshafts through connecting rods 9. The first pair of the crankshafts rotates the second pair of the crankshafts through gear 8. The pair moves second piston 4 in cylinder 2. The axially alined crankshafts rotate in opposite directions. EFFECT: improved design. 3 dwg
