FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: blades are divided into four groups, strain-hardened under different conditions, then residual surface stresses are found for each group and dispersion of residual stresses is determined for different depths of their location. Next steps include plotting averaged diagrams of residual stresses and determining area under residual compressive stresses which reflects the level of energy accumulated by surface layers of articles in the course of strain-hardening. Next, all values are compared to find the maximum value of energy. Maximum value corresponds to minimum dispersion of residual stresses. EFFECT: improved functional efficiency. 1 tbl
