FIELD: shipbuilding, chemical, oil industries, may be also used in transport and power engineering for welding small diameter tubes and flanged tubes. SUBSTANCE: apparatus has copper ring, which may be released. Ring is composed of several sector-shaped members with forming groove. Members are interconnected by springs. Ring is axially movable on hollow stem. Apparatus has replaceable resilient forming liner with width and thickness equal to that of groove in ring and length equal to π·D. End of liner along its length has thickness of πb/2. Total number of members providing releasing of ring is δ/2, where n≥ πb/2 exceeds b/2≥ δ, D is diameter of ring in released state, mm; b is difference of diameters of ring in released and compressed states to provide free mounting and removal of apparatus upon welding process, mm; d is thickness of resilient liner. Resilient forming liner is made in the form of ribbon containing longitudinal multiple-layer multiple component inorganic filaments interwoven by cross thread into single woven structure with layers of longitudinal filaments free of cross reinforcement and laid along their direction in plaited ribbon, with thickness of layers being equal to their initial thickness.
