FIELD: detergents. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cleansing metal optical parts from unknown-type impurities. In order to choose appropriate cleansing composition from organic solvents, one successively treats the surface of a check test piece with the same type of contaminant with solvents from homologous series of alifatic alcohols according to diminishing physical parameter δ expressing specific cohesion energy of a corresponding solvent. Then quality of cleansing of treated surface is determined. Such operations are repeated until parameter d is reached that immediately follows after extreme value d1. Then Δδ value is determined for cleanseable type of contamination, which is difference between two d values for solvents treatment with which provides two nearest to extreme values. According to found Dd value, one chooses organic solvents pertaining to other classes and having d values lying in the range determined by found Dd value. Alcohol with d1 value is combined with at least one solvent chosen from another class of organic solvents, and obtained detergent composition is homogenized. As another-class solvent, such one is chosen that forms azeotrope mixture with the solvent possessing δ1 parameter. So organic solvents are mixed in azeotrope proportion. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of detergent compositions. 3 cl, 1 tbl
