FIELD: purification of water from oils. SUBSTANCE: water-organic substance emulsions are broken by treatment with polyfluorinated alcohol with basic formula H(CF2-CF2)n-CH2OH ,, where n=1-6. Alcohol is taken in the amount of 0.1-20 mas. with subsequent stirring and settling. Method allows reduction of breaking time, as compared with the known method, from several tens of hours to several tens of minutes, or even seconds. Regeneration of used emulsion breakers is possible. EFFECT: reduced breaking time of emulsions stabilized by surfactants. 1 tbl
