SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing α-methyl-α-chloro-γ,γ,γ-trinitrobutyric acid. Method comprises reacting α-sulpho-α-methyl-γ,γ,γ-trinitrobutyric acid with excess thionyl chloride with subsequent treatment of obtained product with excess alcohol at boiling point thereof and saponification of formed ether with hydrochloric acid at t = 95-100°C. Disclosed method enables to obtain α-methyl-α-chloro-γ,γ,γ-trinitrobutyric acid with high output.
EFFECT: acid can be used as semi-product in organic synthesis, including biologically active substances and pharmaceutical preparations.
