FIELD: electric power supply systems. SUBSTANCE: angle of shift between load current and supply voltage is used as reactive power parameter which is converted into group of rectangular pulses with a repetition rate of one el. degree. Then measured parameter is compared with settings; numeric value of first setting ϕ1 is assumed to equal arc cosine or arc tangent of power factor specified by power system, and numeric value of second setting ϕ2<ϕ1. If reactive power is of inductive character, and angle of shift between current and supply voltage is greater than ϕ1, reactive power is reduced; if angle of shift is below ϕ2, reactive power is raised; if reactive power is of capacitive character and angle of phase shift is greater than ϕ1 or smaller than ϕ2, reactive power is reduced.
