Heat treatment is carried out by means of ring heaters placed at distance equal to 1-2.5 of electrode diameter from place of connection of sections. Prior to connecting the sections, current-carrying paste is applied to endface surface of electrode sections to be connected in zone from its outer surface to 0.6-0.93 of diameter. If sections with threadless nipple sockets and threadless nipples are used in assembling, grooves of depth to 0.5-5 mm, width of 0.005-0.1 and pitch of 0.026-0.5 of nipple socket depth are mechanically cu on inclined and vertical surfaces of sockets and nipple.
