FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engines. SUBSTANCE: peculiarity of method is that after expansion of combustion products in main cylinders, they are additionally expanded in additional cylinders. After discharging of gases additional cylinders are cooled by outside air with subsequent discharge of cooling air into atmosphere. Diesel engine operating of this method has main cylinders with pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts. It has also power takeoff shaft, working medium distributor and additional cylinders with pistons, connecting rods and crankshafts. Distributor is made in form of disk. It has outside air intake, spaces and ports to deliver combustion products and atmospheric air to additional cylinders and discharge them from additional cylinders into atmosphere. EFFECT: increased economy owing to additional expansion of combustion products. 3 dwg
