FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane is synthesized from trichloroethylene by two-step procedure involving interaction of trichloroethylene with hydrogen fluoride in the first reactor, where 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-chloroethane is formed. Then the latter compound is reacted with hydrogen fluoride in the other reactor, and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane is formed. 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane is used as a solvent and refrigerant, which does not destroy ozone stratum in atmosphere. EFFECT: improved method of synthesis. 10 cl, 2 tbl
