FIELD: oil and chemical industries. SUBSTANCE: method involves processing of waste chrome-containing fluorination catalyst by a gas mixture containing hydrogen fluoride and up to 30 mole percent of air (the ratio should be at least 40.1: 1; the recommendable is (2-100):1 at 300-500 C, 339-459 C considered to be better. Gas mixture main contain from 70 to 99.9 mole percent of hydrogen fluoride and some amount of inert solvent. EFFECT: higher efficiency and reliability. 5 cl, 2 tbl
