FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: metal nickel-niobium containing portion of burden, ignition portion of burden from aluminium oxidizer in amount of 1.2 to 2.0 of that stoichiometrically required for reaction with oxidizer and slag- forming additions, reduced portion of burden from aluminium, pentoxide of niobium, aluminium oxidizer and slag-forming additions are molten; calcium fluoride in amount of 0.01 to 0.05 of mass of aluminium in each portion of burden is introduced in ignition refining portion of burden. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 1 tbl
