FIELD: borehole investigation equipment. SUBSTANCE: mark is installed on tubing string for orientation in accord with components of underground equipment. Device is oriented in azimuth on entrance with lower plastic material part. Device is stabilized against turning and is sunk inside tubing string down to impact against mark and formation of mark trace. Device is lifted, direction of mark trace is compared with initial azimuthal orientation of device and tubing string is turned by necessary angle. For measurements there is used device composed of body with lower part made of plastic material, arch-shaped springs anchored on body with capability of longitudinal movement of one end and mark installed in tubing string. Arch-shaped springs are located in rows along body. Preferable number of arch-shaped springs in each row is equal to seven and preferable number of rows is four. Device can be provided with weighting material. EFFECT: improved accuracy and stability of orientation. 5 cl, 1 dwg
