METHOD OF AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF FIRE IN MINING YIELDS Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: mining industry. SUBSTANCE: a pair of measuring wires is laid in the worked out space along the control line, and the resistance between the pair of wires is measured. The pair of measuring wires is placed in a common insulating sheath made of a thermosetting material for short-circuiting of the measuring wires in the overheated section of the worked out space. The instant of the beginning of fire is determined by the instant of the short circuit of the measuring wires, and the hotbed of fire is located by the value of the resistance of the shorted electric circuit of the pair of wires. Additionally measured is the resistance between the pair of measuring wires on their opposite end, and determined are the moment of the beginning of fire and the direction to the new hotbed of fire from the previous hotbed of fire by the moment of variation of the resistance on the respective end. The new hotbed of fire is located by the value of variation of the resistance on the respective end with due account made for the total length of measuring wires. EFFECT: facilitated procedure of fire detection.
