FIELD: medicine; surgery. SUBSTANCE: new method consists in determining degree of bacterial dissemination and content of cation proteins in epithelium and granulocytes of mucous membrane stroma. If content of cation proteins in epithelium is within limits of 1.5 to 1.8 and that in granulocytes is between 0 and 0.8 and degree of bacterial dissemination is up to 20 um in visual field (+), this means that barrier function of mucous membrane is normal and there is no exacerbation of disease. In case content of cation proteins in epithelium is less than 1.0 and that in granulocytes exceeds 1.0 at average degree of bacterial dissemination equal to 50 um (++) or pronounced bacterial dissemination in excess of 50 um (+++), it is most probable that there is certain tension in mechanism of local bactericidal protection of mucous membrane and exacerbation of disease. Should content of cation proteins in epithelium be less than 0.8 and that in granulocytes lower than 1.0 in combination with bacterial dissemination in excess of 50 um (+++), one may deduce that system of bactericidal protection of mucous membrane is decompensated and there is risk of occurrence of complications. EFFECT: higher trustworthiness of prediction of pathological process and more correct selection of most suitable method of treatment.
