FIELD: catalytic processes of preparing hydrocarbons. SUBSTANCE: the starting methane-oxygen-containing mixture is subjected to contact with catalyst composition corresponding to the following empirical formula: , wherein Me′ is strontium or barium; Me″ is magnesium or calcium; a= 0.6-2.0; b= 0.5-2.5; c= 7.0-8.9 and e= 10.6-1, followed by addition of 50-80 % by volume of water vapor to the reaction mixture. The reaction process is carried out at temperatures of 800 to 850 C in continuous-flow conditions at atmospheric pressure with contacting for 0.25-1.0 sec. Methane and oxygen are present at the starting mixture in the amounts of 14-40 and 4-20 % by volume, respectively. The catalyst to be used show high stability. EFFECT: increased production yield. 1 cl, 1 tbl
