FIELD: thermal power engineering. SUBSTANCE: sprinkler element of counterflow cooling tower has corrugated plate at angle to edge. One side of plate has horizontal rows of ridges of equal height in each row. Rows are spaced apart at distances reducing towards of one of plate edges. Ridges of adjacent rows are of different height reducing in same direction. Their apexes are on inclined plane to that crossing bases of ridges at angle of 5 to 15 deg. Sprinkler unit of first version is built up of vertical plates; adjacent plates have different direction of corrugations. Plates are installed with their ridges on one side to form ducts having either flat corrugated walls or walls with ridges. Sprinkler unit of second version has its plates installed so that their ridges are opposing each other to form alternating ducts of varying and constant flow area. Ridges function as turbulizing means. EFFECT: improved efficiency. 8 cl, 6 dwg
